Open enrollment for Medicare, officially the Annual Election Period, will start on October 15th and conclude on December 8th. Same as in the past few years.
However, if you already have either a Medicare Advantage plan and/or a Part D plan, you should be receiving and Annual Notice of Change very soon, if you haven’t already. This booklet will tell you what changes will be made to the plan you are on for 2016. This does not mean you are compelled to stay on your current plan. In fact, given all the changes that are being made, particularly to Part D plans, please call me so we can analyze any alternatives that may work better for you.
If you receive any notice that your MAPD or Part D plan will be discontinued for 2016, get in touch with me soon so we can map out your options for 2016. In such instances, you will have a guarantee issue opportunity.
I will not have full plan details or pricing until October 1st, and we can’t submit applications for changes until 10/15, but we can prepare and analyze the options during this 2 week run up period.
